Restaurant Floor Plan & Table Management
If you run a restaurant, café, or resort, YellowPOS turns your point of sale into a live floor plan. Each table becomes an open tab: you add rounds throughout the meal, keep a running total, move or merge tables, print the bill, and take payment — all from the same device, and even when your internet drops.
1. Set up your tables first
Before the floor plan can show anything, add your tables in the Tables section. Give each one a code (e.g. "T-12", "BA-03"), a seat count, and a section/location such as "Main Hall", "Terrace", or "Bar Area". Tables are grouped by section on the floor plan, so this is what gives you an organised layout instead of one long list.
2. Open the floor plan
For Restaurant, Coffee Shop, and Resort business types, your POS opens directly on the floor plan. You see every table as a card coloured by status — Available, Occupied, Reserved, or Maintenance — grouped by section. Use the status filters at the top to focus (for example, show only occupied tables), or the search box to jump straight to a table code. If you don't have tables yet, the POS opens in normal (walk-in) mode instead.
3. Open a tab on a table
Tap an available table to open its tab. This is the familiar POS ordering screen — browse by category, scan barcodes, pick variants — but everything you add belongs to that table. Add the first round, then tap Save to Table. The order is fired and the table now shows a running total and item count on the floor plan. You can leave and come back to it as many times as you like during the meal.
Adding items but not ready to save? Your in-progress cart is kept on the device automatically, so nothing is lost if you switch tables or the page reloads.
4. Add more rounds during the meal
When the table orders again, tap it on the floor plan, add the new items, and Save to Table again. The tab accumulates everything ordered so the total always reflects the full bill. There's no need to start a new order for each round.
5. Transfer or merge tables
Guests move, and groups join. From the floor plan toolbar:
- Transfer — move an open tab from one table to another (e.g. a couple moves from the bar to a proper table).
- Merge — combine two open tabs into one when two tables are seated together, freeing the second table.
6. Close & pay
When the table asks for the bill, open it and tap Close & Pay. The payment popup opens: tap Print Bill to hand the customer an itemised check (no cash drawer, no kitchen ticket — the food is already made). Once they pay, record the amount paid using the denomination buttons, and the cash drawer opens to make change. The order is saved as paid and the table returns to Available automatically, ready for the next guests.
7. It keeps working offline
Lebanon's internet isn't always reliable, so the floor plan is built to survive an outage. Once it has loaded, you can open tables, add rounds, and transfer or merge tabs with no connection. Everything is stored on the device and marked as pending; the moment you're back online it syncs automatically to your account. Taking the actual payment needs a connection, but you never lose an order or an open tab.
Frequently asked questions
Which businesses get the floor plan?
The floor plan and table tabs are available to Restaurant, Coffee Shop, and Resort business types on any YellowPOS plan. For these business types, the POS opens directly on your floor plan. Other business types keep the standard POS.
Do I need special hardware for table management?
No. The floor plan runs in any browser on a phone, tablet, or laptop — the same device you use for the POS. If you have a receipt printer and cash drawer they connect for printing the bill and making change, but nothing is required.
Does the floor plan work offline?
Yes. Once the floor loads, you can open tables, add rounds, and transfer or merge tabs even if your internet drops. Everything is saved on the device and syncs automatically when you are back online.
How do I split or move a bill between tables?
Use Transfer to move an open tab to another table, or Merge to combine two tabs into one (for example, when two tables join). Both are done from the floor plan in a couple of taps.
Can a customer see the bill before paying?
Yes. When you close a table, open the payment popup and tap Print Bill to give the customer an itemised check. Then you record the amount they paid and the cash drawer opens to make change.
