Connect a Custom Domain to Your Store

Your YellowPOS store, menu, and booking page already live at a free link like yellow-pos.com/your-business. If you own a domain such as mystore.com, you can point it at your store so customers reach you at your own branded web address. Here’s how to set it up in a few minutes — no developer needed.

1. Copy your YellowPOS store link

In your dashboard, open Settings → Store access. There you’ll find your public link and QR code for your online store, QR menu, or booking page — for example https://yellow-pos.com/your-business. Click Copy link; this is the destination your domain will point to. If you run a menu or booking page rather than a shop, copy that specific link instead.

2. Log in to your domain provider

You’ll need access to the account where you bought your domain — your domain registrar. The most common ones are GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, Google Domains, and Bluehost. If you don’t own a domain yet, you can buy one from any of these for roughly $10–15 per year, then come back to this step.

3. Set up domain forwarding

Every registrar calls it something slightly different — Domain Forwarding, Forward Domain, or Redirect Domain — but the idea is the same: send anyone who visits your domain to your YellowPOS store link. Paste the link you copied as the destination, choose Permanent (301) as the forward type, and pick Forward only.

Example — GoDaddy

  1. Go to My Products, find your domain, and click Manage.
  2. Look for Domain Forwarding and click Add Forwarding.
  3. Enter your YellowPOS store link as the destination.
  4. Forward type: Permanent (301). Settings: Forward only.
  5. Save changes.

Example — Namecheap

  1. Go to Domain List and click Manage next to your domain.
  2. Scroll to Redirect Domain.
  3. Enter @ or www as the source, and your store link as the destination.
  4. Save changes.

4. Use “Forward only” — avoid masking

Some registrars offer a “Forward with masking” option, which keeps your domain showing in the address bar by loading your store inside a hidden frame. We strongly recommend not using masking. It breaks the mobile layout (your store renders in a tiny desktop view on phones), it hurts your Google ranking, and it can interfere with checkout and links. With plain Forward only, your store stays fully responsive, secure, and SEO-friendly — the only difference is that the address bar shows your yellow-pos.com link after the redirect. For a branded address bar without masking, contact our team about full custom-domain hosting.

5. Allow time and test

After you save, domain changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect, though they’re often live within minutes. Once it’s ready, type your domain into a browser — it should land on your YellowPOS store, menu, or booking page. Test it on both a computer and your phone to make sure everything looks right. If it isn’t working after a day, double-check that the forward type is 301 and that the destination link is correct, then reach out to us.
