Featured Products

Featured Products let you manually spotlight the items you want customers to see first — a new arrival, a house specialty, a slow-moving product you want to push, or your most bookable service — instead of leaving that entirely up to sales data or a scrolling catalog. One toggle on a product controls all of it.

1. Marking a product as featured

Open Products, then create or edit any product. Next to the existing Public toggle is a Featured toggle — switch it on and save. It's off by default for every product, so nothing appears featured until you choose it.

2. Toggling featured status without opening the product

From the Products list, every row has a star icon in the actions column, alongside the existing public/private toggle. Click it to feature or unfeature a product on the spot, with a confirmation prompt so it's never accidental. A filled star means the product is currently featured; an outlined star means it isn't. The list also shows a Featured badge next to the Private/Service badges, so you can scan the whole catalog and see what's currently spotlighted at a glance.

3. Shop home page

A dedicated Featured Products carousel appears near the top of your shop home page, right after the hero slideshow — before Latest Additions or Best Sellers. It only shows your most recently featured physical and digital products (up to 12), and it disappears entirely when nothing is featured, so it never shows up as an empty or half-built section.

Services are intentionally left out of this carousel. A featured service belongs on your reservations page instead — see below — so a "book now" item never gets mixed into a grid of "add to cart" products.

4. Shop listing / category page

Every product card across your storefront — including the listing and category pages — shows a Featured badge when the product is flagged. On the listing page specifically, featured products also get a quiet boost: under the default sort (no explicit sort chosen), featured items rise to the top of the grid. If a customer explicitly sorts by price or name, that choice is respected and featured items just carry the badge like everything else — featuring a product never overrides a customer's own sort.

5. QR menu

If you run a menu, a Featured pill appears in the menu's category navigation alongside Offers, leading to a horizontally scrolling Featured section. Tapping a card opens the same product modal as any other menu item — nothing new to learn for customers. Only public, in-stock featured products show here; anything currently out of stock is filtered out automatically, the same rule the rest of the menu follows.

6. Reservations page

Since is_featured is a flag on any product regardless of type, marking a service as featured surfaces it in a Featured scroller on your reservations page, above the full list of bookable services. This is the place to put your most popular or highest-margin service — a signature treatment, your most-booked slot type, or a new offering you want customers to notice first. Tapping a featured card selects that service the same way tapping it in the main grid does.

Using it well

Featured Products works best as a small, deliberate spotlight — a handful of items, not your whole catalog. Rotate it: feature what's new or seasonal, unfeature it once it's no longer worth the front-row spot, and let your Offers and best-seller data handle everything else. Frequently asked questions

How do I mark a product as featured?

Open the product in Products, edit or create it, and switch on the Featured toggle next to the existing Public toggle, then save. You can also star it directly from the products list without opening the product at all.

Where do featured products actually show up?

Four places: a dedicated carousel near the top of your shop home page, a Featured badge plus a default-sort boost on your shop listing/category page, a Featured section on your QR menu, and a Featured section on your reservations page for bookable services.

Does featuring a service work the same way as a physical product?

Yes — is_featured is a flag on any product, including services. A featured service shows on the reservations page's Featured section, but not in the shop home carousel, which only surfaces physical and digital products so a booking item doesn't appear next to items with an add-to-cart button.

How many products can I feature at once?

There's no hard cap in the product form, but the shop home carousel and the menu's Featured section only pull the most recent 10–12 featured items. If you feature everything, nothing stands out — treat it as a spotlight for a handful of products, not a second catalog.

Does a featured product need to be public and in stock?

It needs to be public to appear anywhere on the storefront — a private product stays hidden even if featured. The QR menu's Featured section also checks stock and skips anything currently unavailable, the same way the rest of the menu does.

Will featuring a product change its price or sort order everywhere?

It never changes the price. On the shop listing page, featured items are only pulled to the top under the default sort — if a customer explicitly sorts by price or name, that sort is respected and featured status is just shown as a badge.
