How to Add Products in Bulk to Your Lebanese Online Store
Adding a full product catalog one item at a time can take hours. Whether you're launching a new store, switching from another system, or restocking a seasonal menu, bulk import lets you enter everything in one go.
Why adding products one by one doesn't scale
If you have 10 products, the regular product form is fine. But most Lebanese shops — a grocery, a sweets shop, a clothing boutique — carry dozens or hundreds of items. Clicking "Add product", filling in a form, uploading an image, saving, and repeating that process 80 times is tedious and error-prone. You'll make mistakes, miss fields, and spend a full day just on data entry before your store is even live.
Bulk import solves this. Instead of filling out a form for each product, you work in a spreadsheet-style grid where each row is one product. You fill in names, categories, prices, and quantities across multiple rows at once, then import everything with a single click.
How the bulk import grid works
In YellowPOS, go to Products → Bulk Import. You'll see a table that works like a spreadsheet. Each row is a product. The columns cover the essentials: product name, categories, type (physical, digital, or service), quantity, cost price, selling price, compare price (for showing a "was / now" discount), and whether the product is visible to customers.
You don't need to fill in every column for every product. Name, categories, and price are required. Everything else is optional and can be filled in later through the regular product editor.
Keyboard shortcuts that speed things up
The grid is built for fast keyboard entry. Press Tab to move to the next column in the same row — like filling in a paper form. Press Enter to jump to the same column in the next row — like moving down a spreadsheet. Once you get the hang of it, you can enter a full product row in a few seconds without touching the mouse.
You can click "Add 20 rows" at the bottom to expand the grid when you need more space. The row count at the bottom tells you how many products you've entered so far.
Adding images and variants
Each row has a small expand arrow on the left. Click it to open the extended view for that product, where you can upload a product image and add variants. Variants let you sell the same product in different options — like a T-shirt in small, medium, and large, each with its own price and stock count, or a juice in regular and large sizes.
You don't need to expand every row. Only expand the rows where you want to add images or variants. For simple products with no variants and no photo yet, you can skip it and come back to add images later.
Saving your progress
The grid auto-saves as you type. If you need to stop in the middle and come back later, click Save Draft to make sure nothing is lost. When you reopen the bulk import page, your last draft loads automatically. This is useful if you're entering a large catalog over multiple sessions — you don't have to start from scratch each time.
Importing and what happens next
When you're ready, click Import All. A progress bar shows how many products have been created. Products are processed one by one; you can watch the count go up in real time. Once it finishes, all products appear in your catalog and on your store.
After importing, go to Products to review the results. You can click into any product to add a description, more photos, a barcode, LBP pricing, or other details that aren't in the bulk grid. The import gets everything into the system; the product editor is where you polish each item.
Good uses for bulk import in Lebanese businesses
Grocery and superette: Import your full product list from an existing spreadsheet. Most groceries already track stock in Excel — the columns map almost directly to the bulk import grid.
Restaurant or café: Set up your full menu in one session. Add categories first (Appetizers, Mains, Drinks, Desserts), then bulk-import all items into the right categories. You'll have a complete QR menu in an hour instead of a day.
Clothing or accessories shop: Add all your items with variants (size, color). Expand each row to add the variant options and set different prices if they vary by size.
Seasonal restock: When you bring in new stock for Eid, Christmas, or summer, bulk-import the new items rather than adding each one manually.
Summary
Bulk import is the fastest way to build a large product catalog in YellowPOS. Use the spreadsheet-style grid, tab and enter your way through the rows, expand for images and variants where needed, save your draft, and import when you're done. What would take a full day of form-filling becomes a couple of hours of structured data entry.
